CDI Engineering Solutions supports SK Siltron CSS in Producing a more Sustainable Future

SK Siltron CSS, a leading manufacturer of silicon carbide (SiC) wafers for the semiconductor industry, is investing more than $300 million in a larger production facility in Bay City, Michigan.  SK Siltron is part of the giant SK group, which operates more than 120 businesses across the energy, life sciences, advanced materials, mobility, and semiconductor industries around the globe.

CDI is proud to provide engineering and design services for the integrated owner/engineer/constructor team that is delivering this project on a “flash-track” basis. Our team in our Midland, MI, engineering center led this project, drawing upon more than 80 engineers, designers, and capital project experts from all six CDI engineering centers to help accomplish this project in record time.

The SK Siltron CSS silicon carbide wafers are used in semiconductor power components of electric vehicles, charging stations and other advanced products. SiC is far more efficient at handling high power and conducting heat than normal silicon. These benefits provide significant improvements to the efficiency, performance and range of electric vehicles.
