Perhaps the most important element of the “Green Revolution” in agriculture in the last century, synthetic fertilizer is responsible for supporting more than half the population of the world and keeping them from starvation. The New Green Revolution
With increasing concern about climate change resulting from fossil fuel consumption, attention is turning to the “carbon footprint” of ammonia production. This attention is warranted, since the production of ammonia and its derivatives generates almost 2% of global carbon dioxide emissions, according to a Royal Society publication in 2020.
